Thermal Lance

The Mk 1 Remote Thermic Lance Feeder Unit was developed alongside BHP engineers (lead by Kim Tan). The unit showed great promise in increasing safety for operators as they were able to be removed from the immediate vicinity, protecting them from projectiles, slag and sparks.

The ongoing use and feed back on these units has allowed for remarkable improvements and DSM is on the final stages of the production of the Mk 6 unit!

The best upgraded features include:

A second axis which allows side to side as well as forward and back movement

The camera and reciever units have seen significant upgrades and provide good visibility from an extended distance (50 plus meters)

Smoother travel and feedback feel for the operator

Lease or Buy

DSM provide multiple options for the use of the remote thermal lance feeder unit with hiring options avaible for a short as 1 month or up to a year. Extension of leases' is available depending on unit availability.

Purchase of the lance outright is also available.

Units are serviced after every lease and it is recommended that purchased lances also recieve regular servicing so that the unit runs safely and consistently every use.

Safety training provided

DSM staff (usually David Miller himself) is available to attend site to train staff in the operation of the remote thermic lance feeder unit. Staff is usually trained after a few days.

What are the benefits of a remote Thermal Feeder unit?

There are multiple benefits to having a remote themal lance feeder unit (and trained operator) on site including

  • Safety for all staff

  • Tools down period decreased as the crusher does not need to be emptied for the unit to be successfully used.
